The Work in Progress

In so many ways we are exactly that… a work in progress. And honestly, that’s exactly what we should be. It’s been a long road to where we are and there’s still a ways to go before we’re where we want to be.

It would be hard to pinpoint the exact moment that AD 33 Productions came into existence but the first big concrete step toward our impossible dream was our first stage production at Westwood Baptist Church in the spring of 2010. “Screwtape B.C.” (now published as Wrenchwood B.C.) was our first time bringing our love of storytelling to a larger audience as we explored the Old Testament account of Joseph from the demon’s perspective.

Starting there AD 33 has brought 18 theatrical productions to thousands of audience members. Through this, our team has honed its abilities both as content producers and as storytellers.

In 2012 we embarked on our first serious foray into the medium of film by producing the documentary “Without Excuse Science: Origins”. Though we have certainly come a long way on the production side since then we can still look back on that project and see how God used it to solidify us as a team and put something of substance under our belts.

Since releasing Without Excuse in 2013 we have continued to build on the lessons we learned there and in the industry by producing comedic sketches and short films when time and resources allow. And we certainly haven’t lost our ambition.

In 2016 our team made a decision to put a significant portion of our efforts into adapting one of our original stage productions, “The Prodigal Princess,” into a screenplay. Since then we have been involved in the process of writing, re-writing, and now finishing the script of this retelling of Jesus’ poignant parable. And we continue to seek the Lord’s will as we work on this massive undertaking.

We continue to take every opportunity both on our projects and working for others to learn and prepare for what we believe God has called us to. As we said, we’re not there yet. But by God’s grace, we’re moving in that direction.
